The Startrite TA175 & TA275 are the two most popular tilt arbour machines produced by Startrite in the UK. While the TA275 has a larger motor, and can take a slightly larger blade than the TA175, these saws mostly share the same spares.

Maintenance Parts for Startrite TA175 & TA275
Typically the most common parts to replace for maintenance on the TA175 & TA275 tilt arbour saws is as follows:
Drive Belt (2 Per Machine)
Over time, drive belts degrade and stretch. This can lead to a loss of power, increased vibrations which can damage components, and increased noise.
The TA175 & TA275 saw benches both feature a dual belt drive. It’s important to replace both belts at the same time. We sell matched pairs of these belts, ensuring they are exactly the same. If your belts aren’t matched, one belt may be taking more of the load from the motor.
Universal Joint
Universal joints allow tilt arbour saws to maintain motor power when the blade is tilted. These can fail, but are simple to replace.
A saw that has stiff tilting movement, or any play in the tilt mechanism may indicate that the universal joint is on its way out and needs replacing.
Spindle Bearings
Spindle bearings on a tilt arbour saw are under a huge amount of load, and can wear out over time.
Unfortunately, replacing the spindle bearings means complete disassembly of the machine.
