PUWER Regulations & DC Brakes

BE AWARE – PEWER regulations now state that wood working machines need to stop within 10 seconds, or they must be fitted with a brake. If you are buying this starter for a commercial setting it is highly recommended that you purchase the DC brake option.

In situations where the operator is the only person on site (such as sole traders working by themselves or hobbyists) then you may not need the DC brake by law, however it is still recommended as woodworking bandsaws run at very high speeds and can be dangerous when slowing to a stop.

You can find a link to the PUWER regulations below:

https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/books/l22.htm

PLEASE NOTE – This is not legal advice, we encourage you to read the PUWER regulations regarding brakes for woodworking saws and make your own decision on whether you require a DC brake or not. We always recommended a DC brake as it is the safest option

Fitting

The Starter boxes are pretty simple, and can be fitted by most people with a little advice. The DC brakes however are more complex, and require a bit of engineering / electrical knowledge to fit correctly. We can offer advice on fitting these systems, click here to get in touch today for more information.
