Gearbox Maintenance
Regularly Check the oil level in the gear reduction head, (The sight glass located at the side must show correct oil level), when the head is in the raised position. Refill when necessary. An oil change is required after the first 10 hours of sawing and then every 6 months, or 250 hours, of sawing, whichever comes first.
Proceed as Follows:
- Remove the plug at the bottom of the sawhead.
- Hold the unit in the horizontal position, draw off the oil, drain the gearbox, thoroughly flush the gearbox out and refit the plug.
- Return the sawhead to its highest position. Remove the plug/operating handle at the top of the unit, fill the gearbox with BO6903 Gear Oil for Startrite Cold Saws and refit the plug / operating handle. The capacity is 0.5L for 250, 275& 315 models. 350 models have a 1L capacity. DO NOT OVERFILL.
